The Mbwajumwali Seawall Project in Lamu County is a KES 25 million coastal protection initiative launched by the County Government to safeguard the historic 800-year-old Mbwajumwali village from the destructive effects of high tides and sea erosion. The project’s first phase involves constructing a 300-metre modern seawall designed to prevent flooding of homes, protect community infrastructure, and address long-standing sanitation hazards caused by overflow of toilets and latrines during tidal surges.
